Are you a skilled Cardiac Physiologist looking for a rewarding opportunity in a dynamic, fast-paced clinical environment? Macquarie University Health is seeking a talented Cardiac Physiologist (Echo & Cath Lab) to join our Cardiology team on a part-time basis (2–3 days per week) for a 12-month maternity leave contract.

About the Role

As a Cardiac Physiologist within the Macquarie University Health Cardiology Clinic, you will be a vital member of the Interventional Services team, providing essential technical and clinical support for interventional cardiac procedures. Working closely with fellow clinicians and support services, you will ensure the highest standard of patient-centred care and expert cardiac haemodynamic services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing transthoracic echocardiography independently, including provisional reporting, and stress echocardiography
  • Supporting cardiac catheterisation laboratory procedures, including physiological measurements, haemodynamic monitoring, right heart catheterisation and effective troubleshooting
  • Assisting with pacemaker and defibrillator cases and electrophysiology studies and ablations
  • Conducting ECGs, Holter monitoring and stress testing
  • Promptly advising specialist clinicians or senior medical staff of any patient findings requiring immediate clinical attention
  • Providing timely and appropriate cardiac investigations for patients across outpatient and inpatient services
  • Practising culturally sensitive care, respecting a diverse range of beliefs, values and practices, and working collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team

About You

You are a qualified and experienced Cardiac Physiologist who is proficient in echocardiography and cardiac catheterisation laboratory procedures. Reporting to the Cardiac Physiologist Manager, you bring strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities and a genuine commitment to patient-centred care. You are comfortable working autonomously while thriving in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Selection Criteria

  • A degree in science, with a preference for health science, or an equivalent qualification (graduate experience in cardiac sonography will be considered)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in echocardiography, ECG analysis and stress testing
  • Experience in cardiac catheterisation laboratory procedures, including haemodynamic monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Membership of Professionals in Cardiac Sciences Australia (PiCSA) and ACCP (desirable); ASAR registration (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport and empathise with patients
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage workloads within established routines, methods and procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing continuing professional development
